An unexpected direction
It's been almost a year since my last blog post, and my practice has taken yet a new and unexpected direction. This transformation came from questioning the sustainability and environmental impact of my work. How can I make my practice more eco-friendly?
In response, I've started transitioning from plastic-based materials to more sustainable alternatives. Some things are easier to replace than others. A key part of this shift has been making my own pigments, dyes, inks and paint from natural materials collected during my daily walks.
This has been a truly eye-opening experience and I am amazed over all the beautiful colours and pigment that can be derived from the natural world. I look forward to continuing exploring this alchemical world of botanical dyes, lakes, inks and earth pigments and minerals.
